After being operational for a little over nine months, The Shore Foundation is excited to announce that we are over halfway to our goal of acquiring 500 computers to be donated in Rochester, NY! We intend to set the World Record for the most computers donated in 24 hours at a single event. We hope this event will make a positive impact on the local community and provide many individuals in need with an access point to the internet. Make your contribution today through our webpage!
Computers are coming in by the truckload. 105 computers were donated to The Shore Foundation by Cap Com Federal Credit Union located in Albany, NY. We are thankful for all of our amazing donors, we couldn’t do it without you. As we continue to grow, we enjoy forming relationships with our donors that are mutually beneficial. Thank you Cap Com!
The brothers of Phi Kappa Psi at the Rochester Institute of Technology regularly volunteer hours from their busy days to keep our operations running smoothly. A steady flow of computers and readily available manpower makes our mission a reality. Thank you Phi Kappa Psi, you make a tremendous difference!
The Shore Foundation is in the process of moving into our new office space at 30 W Broad Street Suite 204, Rochester, NY. Creating a comfortable environment with a comprehensive and efficient workflow is crucial to making our mission a reality.
By connecting our numerous workstations to an internal network, we will be able to perform a variety of automated procedures on our machines simultaneously. This will allow us to prepare computers to be donated faster than ever before.
We are grateful to have secured such a remarkable space in an incredible city. Stay tuned for more progress as we continue to ramp up our operations in Rochester, NY.
The Shore Foundation's first computer giveaway event was a success! 10 ready-to-use laptops were donated to high school students in downtown Rochester, providing them with an opportunity to access, learn, and engage with the tools and resources made available by owning a functional computer.
The event was a great experience for us as an organization, giving us valuable insight on how to improve our internal processes, event planning, and continue our mission of granting youth and families easy access to the internet via their own personal computers.
We would like to take the time to thank our computer donor companies, Captira Analyical and Palm Beach Kennel Club, as well as the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection for helping us organize a great event for an amazing cause. It is only the first of more to come!
Computer donations are what power our mission and drive our organization. Our donors make our vision a reality, and we consider them as much as a part of the team as ourselves.
We are currently preparing for our first computer giveaway event as The Shore Foundation. The event will take place on Monday, May 14th, at 1 Mustard Street, Rochester, NY. We will be working with partners from the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection (HW-SC) program, a nationally recognized youth development program that seeks to help at-risk secondary school students earn their high school diploma and prepare for life after graduation.
We have identified Rochester, NY, as a location that can benefit immensely from our refurbished computer donations. As many human service programs and job services require computer access, students who do not have a computer and internet access at home are at a disadvantage for job procurement and retention. It has also been shown that technology, when implemented properly, can produce significant gains in student achievement and improve engagement. We want to provide these students with the tools they need to be competitive in their life while in school and after graduation. Most importantly, we want to empower our recipients with the confidence they need to achieve success.
